John Russell graduated with a BA in Photojournalism from Western Kentucky University in 1991. His career began as an editorial photographer for the Buffalo News, Nashville Banner, and the Associated Press. When he began to notice the struggle newspapers encountered, he moved from media into freelance photography. He worked with clients throughout Middle Tennessee. He is currently the chief photographer for Vanderbilt University as well as a team photographer for the Nashville Predators NHL hockey team.
