ART WE 🫶: ‘Kindred Spirits: Intergenerational Forms of Expression, 1966 - 1999’ on view at @fristartmuseum til 6.1 in partnership with @fiskuniversity @fiskuniversitygalleries
“1966 represented a moment of transition after the retirement of Aaron Douglas, founder and chair of Fisk’s Art Department and a leading figure of the Harlem Renaissance. The appointment of David C. Driskell as Douglas’s successor ushered in a broadening view of the African diasporic arts through instructional innovation and the expansion of the university’s collections, artist residency programs, and exhibitions.
Kindred Spirits frames a critical timeline linking Driskell’s tenure (1966–76) with the tenure of one of his preeminent colleagues, professor Earl J. Hooks (1969–99). Co-organized by Fisk University Galleries and the Frist Art Museum, this exhibition features more than 50 objects, including archival images and interview documentation, and acts as a companion exhibition to David C. Driskell and Friends: Creativity, Collaboration, and Friendship.” ©️ @fristartmuseum

#nossistudentwork 📸 @kendalljcampbell PH 480: Fine Art Photography
"This body of work is an exploration of color, emotion and the moments that connects us to the world around us. Each image created is a conversation between light, hue and emotional portrayal that I aim to express. Color holds the power to evoke mood and tell stories. Every choice is made with the purpose of unlocking an emotional response. With long exposure techniques combined with the use of hue, it creates a sense of abstraction within reality. The intention is for the viewer to find their own meaning, creating space for interpretation. The elements of this project blend to form something personal yet universally relatable." - @kendalljcampbell

#nossistudentwork from GD 120: Linear Design 2025A
"Assignment Description: Co-Branding Ads Unexpected Pairings – Cinnamon Toast Crunch x Dr. Pepper
In this Linear Design assignment, students explored the creative challenge of co-branding. The exercise began with students proposing a wide array of food products—ranging from savory and sweet to spicy and exotic. These suggestions were then randomly paired to create unlikely product combinations, designed to push students out of their comfort zones and encourage innovative thinking.
Students were tasked with developing a fully realized advertisement that effectively promoted BOTH brands in the pairing, creating compelling visuals that made the combination not only plausible, but appealing and marketable. The featured pairing for this assignment was the cereal Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the soda Dr. Pepper.
The goal was to produce an ad that balanced the identities of both products while crafting a cohesive, enticing concept that could captivate a target audience. Students applied principles of linear design, branding strategy, and visual storytelling to execute their campaigns, demonstrating both design and illustration skill and marketing insight." - Instructor Tracy Ratliff @paisley_pen_creative
