A decade of creative connection with Sparkman High School 📸
Last Friday, we welcomed @shssenators back to campus for another hands‑on photography visit. Instructor Eric Mittman has been bringing his students to Nossi for more than 10 years, and many of them go on to join our Photography program after graduation!
Because Sparkman has a strong commercial photography focus, we spent the day in our studios doing lighting demos, working with models, and giving students the chance to apply what they’re learning in class on a larger, fully equipped set. They also had the chance to meet current Nossi students and see what their next step could look like.

Creating light trails at Two Rivers Park 📸
@tomstanfordphotography took his Digital Photography class out to Two Rivers Park today for a hands‑on lesson in long‑exposure techniques. With model @peytonwhite on set, students watched Tom demonstrate how steel wool, a whisk, and the right shutter settings can transform a dark tunnel into a canvas of light.

🍽️ Culinary Capstone inspired by Chef Alfred Portale
In CU 270: Culinary Capstone, students explored contemporary cuisine by recreating dishes inspired by acclaimed chef Alfred Portale. This week’s focus included seafood, braising, rabbit, and chocolate, with a four course menu prepared and plated by students.
Chef Zac conducted tastings for each dish, grading flavor, technique, and presentation while giving real world culinary feedback. These plates reflect both historical influence and modern kitchen standards in action.

In IL 200, students learn the foundations of 3D modeling and basic animation using tools like Blender and Adobe Creative Suite. In this interview, instructor Grant Tudor explains how the class helps students build skills in depth, lighting, structure, and motion to support stronger illustration and visual storytelling.
From early modeling to intro animation concepts, this course gives students hands-on experience that expands how they think and create in 2D and 3D.
