James Trigueros teaches History of Western Civilization and American History, bringing a scholar’s training and a practitioner’s clarity to courses that trace how ideas, institutions, and everyday people shaped the modern world. He has taught Western Civ (to 1500 and since 1500) and U.S. History at the College of Lake County, designing classes that blend primary-source analysis, cause-and-effect thinking, and lively discussion connecting past events to today’s civic and cultural life.
With an M.A. in History from Roosevelt University and a B.A. in History from Northeastern Illinois University, James emphasizes historical thinking skills—evaluating evidence, weighing competing interpretations, and building clear arguments—so students leave with tools they can use in any career. Known for approachable lectures and practical study frameworks, he helps students see that history isn’t just dates—it’s decisions.
