Week 4, Day 16 – 20, 45 Days of Giving

Welcome back to Week 4 of our 45 Days of Giving! See Days 16 – 20 below!

In the fall of 2018, Nossi College of Art is celebrating our 45th anniversary, and we decided to do 45 acts of creative kindness for local classrooms, non-profits, church groups. Nashville and the surrounding communities have been supportive of Nossi College and the impact we wanted to make on this area, so in return, we wanted to feature 45 acts of thankfulness.

If you haven’t already, check out our previous blog for Week 3 to get all the action!

We are so excited to share the fun we had shopping, donating, creating and celebrating within the wonderful community that has supported us during our 45-year creative journey.

Day 16: Bahía de Caráquez, Nossi Study Abroad

For Nossi’s 1st ever study abroad trip, our very own Photo Instructor, Sheri Oneal, took 12 students on location to Ecuador to photograph and experience their unique culture. The most impactful day for the students was their visit to the school, Bahía de Caráquez Sri Sathya Sai Baba – Because of the impact on our students, Nossi made a check to this school to help with various funding needs.

Video above is the abroad class getting a lesson in traditional Ecuadorian dancing with students at Bahía de Caráquez!

We’ve got an entire blog dedicated to this Ecuador trip, click here for a day by day recap on our students’ Ecuador journey including images they took of the beautiful country.

Don’t be shy, enjoy this video posted on the Bahia De Caraquez Facebook and snoop around their site to see their fun activities.

Day 17: Friends Life

For Day 17 we’re featuring the awesome people at Friends Life. The Friends Life community provides programs for adults with special needs so they can grow and thrive. This non-profit makes an effort to offer creative activities to their friends and we were excited to help stock their art room!

Nossi donated acrylic paint supplies, canvases, paint brushes and sharpies.

Our student, Blake Russell enjoyed making friends and photographing while he visited their center.

Day 18: East End Prep

To prepare for the upcoming school year local Nashville charter school, East End Prep within Martha O’Bryan Center needed art supplies like crayons, construction paper, color pencils and dry erase markers and we were super excited to donate these supplies!

East End Prep is a free, public charter school in Nashville, Tennessee, preparing scholars for success in college and the world by challenging, supporting, loving, and leading them through a top-quality, well-rounded education promoting academic excellence and strength of character.

Fun Fact: East End Prep was recognized as a double reward school by the state, scoring in the top 5% for both achievement and growth in the 2016-2017 school year.

Bellshire Elementary Design Center serves more than 400 students in pre-kindergarten through 4th grade with a goal to encourage each child in achieving his/her potential by instilling in them an intrinsic sense of self-worth, curiosity and love of learning.

We love that Bellshire offers a wide range of related arts offerings, including physical education, art, computer, music, library and Second Step. Their school is supported by active PTO and numerous PENCIL partners, which work directly with their school to help their students succeed.
