Southern Halo Creates with Nossi

“When you come to one of our gigs, expect a lot of energy and a lot of love,” said Natalia Morris, lead singer and guitarist for Southern Halo, a country rock band with a bluesy undercurrent. Natalia is one of the three Halos – all sisters –growing up with a love of blues music thanks to their Mississippi Delta roots.

Natalia, joined by her sisters Christina and Hannah, travel around Mississippi and the South performing concerts and enjoying life as musicians. The trio has come a long way since their opening gig in 2009 at Airport Grocery, a hometown restaurant in Cleveland, Mississippi.

Since making that appearance, Southern Halo has opened for many artists including BB King (twice!), Uncle Kracker and Randy Houser. Nossi College of Art was able to cross paths with Southern Halo when they traveled to Nashville for CMA Fest 2015. Before seeing the full fandom of CMA Fest, the trio of ladies took an afternoon to collaborate with Nossi’s creative students for a photo and video shoot.

From when they first arrived to the final minutes of the session, Southern Halo spent the evening between video shoots, set changes, costume changes and photo studios. “The photo shoot was so cool and everyone was so easy to work with,” said Natalia. “It was the most professional shoot we have done so far. It was such a fun day.”

With a small team of CMAEDU members and guests, Nossi photo, video and design students were able to see how a professional shoot operates. From pre- to post- production, students get a first-hand experience working with clients on a professional set.

Since spending an evening with Nossi College of Art, Southern Halo has been fast at work generating their first music video for “Little White Dress.”

“We have a copy of the final video and we have probably seen it a million times and we cannot wait to share it,” said Christina.
