Show and Tell in Studio Lighting

Not every college encourages its students to bring motorcycles to class. At Nossi, students are given unparalleled creative control and support in realizing their unique vision. Kimberly Stillman, a student in John Yates’s Studio Lighting class, can attest to that.

Kimberly and her husband have been riding Harley Davidsons for over a decade, and she couldn’t pass up the opportunity to incorporate her passion for motorcycles into her studies at Nossi. As a student pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Commercial Photography, the grand size of Studio A and Nossi’s wide variety of equipment were all the more reason to bring the bikes in. Models in pin-up attire and 1940’s makeup brought the shoot to life.

Although this began as merely a final project, this novel experience allowed Kimberly to gain valuable knowledge that she can apply to the field. View more work from Kimberly Stillman here: www.kimberlystillmanphotography.com

“I learned a lot leading up to and during this shoot.  For one, sometimes you have to just put yourself out there and the only way to make something happen is to try.  Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help…I asked John for help and he was there to guide my thought process and get me where I needed to be.”
