Live on the Green is a free concert that takes place every year in Downtown Nashville. It happens around the same time Mother Nature begins to leave the green of summer behind, replacing it with bolder colors and balding trees. Thursdays become a ritual for the music lover in town. Blanket, check. Backpack with water and treats, check. Friends and family, check. Pets? Pack them if you got them. Everyone is accepted at this free concert series hosted by Lightning 100 at Nashville’s Public Square Park.
Nashville’s only local radio station, Lightning 100 gives back to music city by offering 6 weeks of free live music ever year. Acts range from battle of the band winners to some of Nashville’s favorite local talent. They even snagged some major headliners this year including The Wallflowers and Here Comes the Mummies (their second appears at LOTG). After four years, they continue to build and get better. More sustainable too, since going green is a major initiative, thanks in part to their recycle partner Green Village Recycling.
Nossi College of Art offered our strengths to Live on the Green this year. Not only did our photography students attend each show, they received VIP access to get an up close and personal with the bands on stage. Equipped with their own press pass, students traversed the VIP tent, stage and huge crowd to get the best images to include in portfolios. We also offer all our images to use for promotions purposes with Live on the Green.
In addition to providing photographers, one lucky Nossi student also landed the graphic design internship with Lightning 100 and Live on the Green. Tracy Ratliff helped design invitations, social media interfaces, website updates and other needs for Lightning 100 and their Live on the Green concert series.
