Are you a creative in Nashville who would love to pass along the industry knowledge you have gained to a younger generation? Would you like a hand in helping mold future illustrators and designers in Nashville? Do you want to be part of a established art college who has been teaching professional artists for 40 years? Nossi College of Art is looking to hire an illustration instructor for our fall semester, and we need your talents.
Starting September 8 and teaching a 15-week course to intro and advanced illustration students, we are looking for bright-minded and creative people to prepare students for their career and artistic life after college.
For accrediting purposes, we are looking for an artist with a bachelor’s degree and at least five years experience in the creative field.
Classes available to teach:
Adobe Illustrator for Intro Students – Taught Wednesday from 8 – 12 a.m.
-This course will teach students Adobe Illustrator, industry standard for vector-based design in the graphic arts field. Students will learn to create their own designs, many of which will be based on real-world problems students will face on the job. Printing, color and design techniques will be integrated into projects.
Intro to Illustration – Taught Thursday from 1 – 5 p.m.
– Students will learn the different genres of illustration marketing including editorial, advertising, corporate, technical, book publishing and packaging. Students will be introduced to the business of illustration. Techniques of oil, gouache, marker and color pencil will be incorporated. Pricing, contracts, fill fees and second rights will be presented. By the end of the semester, the student will have four illustrations ready for publication.
Book Publishing II – Taught Thursday from 6-10 p.m.
– Students will learn content and function as it relates to books. They will learn fundamentals of choosing themes to visualize a narrative. Students will learn how to develop the concept of an original idea and how to prepare it for presentation to a commercial publisher.
