Nossi College of Art keeps their art students involved and connected to Nashville’s thriving creative and entertainment industries. In addition to volunteering to work on side projects, many students work full or part time jobs and they still manage to make an impression at school by earning the distinction of Honor Roll. At Nossi, there are three levels on honors – Summa Cum Laude, earned when students make a 3.8-4.0 GPA; Magna Cum Laude, earned when students make a 3.6-3.79 and Cum Laude, earned when students make a 3.4-3.59 GPA. For underclassmen, we have a President’s List for anyone earning a perfect 4.0 GPA and a Dean’s List who earned a 3.67 – 3.99.
“Being on any honor list indicates that, academically, a student had an excellent semester,” said Dr. Byron Edwards, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Nossi College.

Academia is just one thing Nossi students pride themselves in achieving. Students also participated in over 250 community-related events and projects in 2014. They have worked with companies like the Country Music Association, the Tennessean, Lightning 100 as well as non-profits like the Cumberland Compact, Root 53 Foundation and the Pencil Foundation to assist in creating and developing creative assets.
Creating a connection to the creative community before graduation helps students understand the professional, working dynamic of the ‘real world.’ When you pair that with high academic honors, students will achieve a portfolio that sets them apart from peers in similar fields.
“Students receive personal satisfaction that comes when one realizes he or she has academically performed at a higher level than most of one's classmates,” said Dr. Edwards. “Students who consistently earn Academic Honors are highly respected by their instructors and are more likely to receive excellent recommendations from their instructors.”
